Winstanley Mediation is an Award Winning, Professional and Unique Family Mediation Service. The practice is managed by Tracy Winstanley.
Many family mediators are also qualified family law solicitors. Tracy qualified as a family lawyer in 2002. Her career as a solicitor involved dealing with all areas of family law including children matters (contact, residence, child custody), financial matters including divorce settlements, cohabitee disputes and prenuptial agreements, as well as domestic abuse, (injunctions, non molestation orders and restraining orders). Tracy’s work would also involve her appearing before the Family Court to represent clients.
Whilst still practising as a family law solicitor, Tracy qualified as a family mediator in 2010 and gained accreditation in 2013. She then went on to qualify in child inclusive mediation (sometimes referred to as Direct Child Consultation) in 2014. Over the last 10 years, Tracy has built up a reputation as one of the leading family law specialist mediators in the North West. In 2015 Tracy was runner up, and then went on to win the ‘Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year’ Award in the category of Family Mediation with the Legal Aid Practitioners Group in 2016. Tracy was also headhunted and appeared on BBC 2 in June 2019 as the Family Mediator helping a couple in a documentary ‘Pregnant and Platonic’.
Tracy has created and developed a Mediation Practice that is tailored to meet the needs of those who find themselves in the difficult situation of separation and divorce, with the aim of helping to reduce the stress during their journey. Tracy’s approach is unique. She has been described as a perfect blend of being ‘professional and relatable’.
Although Tracy chose not to continue to practise as a family law solicitor in July 2018, in order to set up ‘Winstanley Mediation’ and focus solely on her passion for family mediation, she continues to keep herself up to date with developments in the law. Tracy’s background means she has vast knowledge and expertise in the area of family law which enables her to share her experiences to help parties to be better informed, and therefore make important decisions that affect their future more confidently.
Winstanley Mediation holds a legal aid contract offering legal aid funding for those who qualify. If you are in receipt of some benefits such as universal credit or employment support allowance this can mean you qualify automatically for legal aid to cover your mediation costs.
